PUYA BERTERONIANA is an otherworldly Bromeliad from Chile bearing huge, 6’ to 10’ flowering spikes of metallic, deep bluish-green flowers highlighted by vivid orange stamens in Summer. The flower spikes sprout up to 20 at a time. The curling, silvery foliage makes large, striking, 3’ clumps by themselves, which is good as Puyas are rather slow growing. The rosettes die after flowering, leaving its offsets to carry on. Puyas need a dry, very well drained medium.
