| 15 Cucurbita Maxima TRIAMBLE SQUASH SEEDS - Pumpkin
|
This sale is for 15 FRESH TRIAMBLE Heirloom Squash Seeds A.k.a. Triangle, Tristar of Shamrock. Extremely rare. Quite unique. First grown in U.S. in 1932 with seed obtained from Arthur Yates & Co. of Sydney, Australia. Very thick flesh, excellent quality pie or vegetable squash. Excellent storage over long periods. 110-120 days to maturity. Each fruit weighs up to 10 lbs. Triamble squash is one of several blue-colored C. maxima winter squashes that are common in Australia but they are rare or unknown outside of that country. The species are known to have originated in Uruguay but where/when/how this particular variety was developed is unknown. Triamble is stunningly beautiful and has a feel that matches it. Its shell is hard and with a marble-like smoothness. The squash is dense and heavy. In the hand it gives a near-correct impression that it is entirely solid. The flesh is orange-colored and quite sweet. Triamble keeps very well and you can store Triambles for two years without loss of flavor or looks. The Trimable plant has huge leaves and enjoys meandering for six or seven feet before throwing a fruit or two. The cooked flesh of a Triamble is dry, deeply flavorful and mildly sweet. It is an excellent choice both in the garden and in the kitchen. PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS: Grow best in warm, loose, fertile soil. Seeds should be planted after all danger of frost is passed. Plant 8 to 10 seeds in hills spaced 8 feet apart and thin to three plants after the first true leaves have formed, or plant in rows 6 to 7 feet apart with 18 inches between plants. For increased yield, fertilize when the plants begin to vine and again when they begin to set fruit. Control weeds with a shallow hoeing. Keep the plants supplied with moisture and dust or spray to control garden pests. Store in a cool, dry place. Remember, you can add two weeks to your growing season by starting plants early in peat pots indoors. On Apr-16-07 at 17:26:27 PDT, seller added the following information:
